Yes. The whole check works from a laptop or desktop, with no software to install and no password to share. You request your data in the browser, download the ZIP Meta sends you, and drop it onto WhoUnfollowed. A computer is actually the easier place to do it, because dragging a file is simpler than hunting for it on a phone.
Step 1: Request Your Data
Open Instagram in your browser and go to Accounts Center from your settings. Then:
- 1.Choose Your information and permissions, then Export your information, then Create export.
- 2.Pick your Instagram profile and Export to device. Choose this, not "Transfer to destination."
- 3.Under Customize information, deselect everything except Followers and following.
- 4.Set the date range to All time and the format to JSON, then start the export.
The full export guide covers each screen if a menu looks different for you.
Step 2: Download the ZIP From the Email
Meta takes a few minutes to prepare the file, sometimes longer, and then emails you a download link. Open it on the same computer and download the ZIP.
The Safari Trap on a Mac
If you use Safari, check this before you upload. By default Safari can unzip downloaded files automatically and leave you with a folder instead of the ZIP. A folder will not upload. You want the original ZIP.
To avoid it, open Safari's settings, go to General, and turn off Open "safe" files after downloading. Then download the export again. Using Chrome or another browser avoids the issue as well. Do not zip the folder back up yourself, because re-zipping changes the file and is a common reason uploads fail.
Step 3: Drop It Onto the Page
Go to whounfollowed.co and drag the ZIP anywhere onto the page, or click Choose file. The parsing happens in your browser in about two seconds, and the file never leaves your computer.
What You Will See
The free plan shows who you follow that does not follow you back. Seeing who actually *unfollowed* you means comparing two exports taken at different times, which is how that works. Instagram does not notify you when it happens, so a comparison is the only reliable way to know.
In Short
- The full check works on a computer. Request the export, download the ZIP, drop it on the page.
- Never unzip, rename, or re-zip the file. On a Mac, switch off Safari's auto-unzip or use another browser.
- No software, no login, and your file stays on your computer.
- One export shows who does not follow you back. Two exports show who left.
Upload your export and have the list in about two minutes.
